| The Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design - Torino (IAAD) was born in 1978 in the capital city of Industrial design and becomes, in a thirty years of activity, a reference point for businesses seeking highly qualified young professionals in the field of design. IAAD collaborates with institutions, agencies, associations and companies for the development of cultural projects, research, educational and work. The Institute, in its constant growth, has had notable firsts, among them to be activated the first national specialization in "Car body Architecture", (today known as “Transportation design”, attended by students from all over the world) and in 2005 it received the accreditation by EABHES – European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools - for the qualification as European Bachelor and Master of Science in Design. The first and second level post-diploma specializations are officially recognized by EABHES and based on the credit system ECTS (European Credits Transfer System). IAAD is member of the major category associations: ICSID – International Council of Societies of Industrial Design,BEDA – Bureau of European Design Associations, ADI - for Industrial design, ANFIA - for Transportation design, AIPI - for Interior and furniture design, AIAP - for Advertising and graphic design. The active departments inside IAAD institute are: Transportation design, Industrial design, Interior and furniture design, Advertising and graphic design. All courses foresee a maximum number of students and obligation frequency, in order to guarantee the students a constant and personal monitoring of the learning level. An argument of extreme importance, is represented by the final year thesis that annually involves, by students’ side, important national and international firms. Once concluded the projects, they are officially presented to the journalists and specialists of the sector inside important public exhibitions.
